Job Description

As a legal intern the role will assist in defending our insureds and the company for claims and lawsuits. Under the direction of a senior attorney or managing attorney the individual will work on projects that support the defense of our insureds and company. Completes tasks using both interpersonal and technical skills appropriate to the specific job assignment, while adapting to new or changing situations in a team environment.

Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August. During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching.


Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam Group office.


Compensation Min: $27.00
Compensation Max: $35.00

Responsibilities


  • Legal research and writing.
  • Draft motions and briefs to support litigation.
  • Attend depositions with the assigned attorney.
  • Attend virtual hearings.
  • May attend trial and assist in the defense of insureds.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.

  • Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.

Requirements
  • Completion of 1+ years from an accredited law school.
  • Completion of Legal Writing and Research courses.
  • An interest in litigation and trial skills.
  • Must be currently seeking a Juris Doctorate and be enrolled in an accredited law school
  • Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship. Graduating August 2026 or later.

This role may be considered for a Primarily Home work arrangement based on the selected candidate's location. Work locations for this role include Washington or Oregon.
